Masters of Fingerstyle Guitar, Vol. 1
From Mel Bay Publications
In July 2006, my friend Bill Piburn, editor of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine, invited Winfield winners John Standefer, Bob Evans and myself to Nashville to record a DVD called Masters of Fingerstyle Guitar. We all had fun visiting and playing a few tunes, and even worked up a three guitar arrangement of Windy and Warm in tribute to Chet (who is, of course, the Master of Fingerstyle Guitar). Afterwards, Bill talked with each of us about our music and influences. The whole thing was filmed by the folks from Mel Bay. Thanks to everyone involved for making this DVD possible.
Includes: Nothing but the Blood of Jesus; Through the Tears; Anytime; Eight Days a Week (Craig Dobbins); I'll See You in My Dreams; Man of Constant Sorrow; Brand New Life; Paper Moon (John Standefer); Khamenkule; Slippery Slope; On the Tip of the Tongue; Got to Get You Into My Life (Bob Evans).
Also includes a trio rendition of Windy and Warm and Bill Piburn's in-depth interviews with the artists. Running time: 64 minutes. Note: This a performance DVD (no guitar tab included).
- "As editor of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine, I have had the good fortune to meet some of the finest guitar players in the world. Today the scope of the players out there keeps growing and the level of musicianship keeps getting higher. It is an honor to present Vol. 1 of what promises to be a long series of DVDs presenting some of the finest fingerstyle players the world has to offer."
-Bill Piburn
