Remembering my friend, Kirk Sand...
Kirk Sand built guitars. Actually, Kirk lived and breathed guitars. He made instruments for José Feliciano, Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, Jerry Reed, Paul Yandell, Steve Wariner, John Knowles, Doyle Dykes, Richard Smith... and me.

I've been replaying memories of our conversations and times together. Kirk always made me smile. He sent me a "scratch and sniff" package of scraps of wood from my signature guitar, with a note saying "This is the best smelling guitar I've ever built!"

I’ve known Kirk since 1990. He was a great artist and craftsman,
and a dear friend. My life was made immeasurably better by knowing him.
I’ll always remember his kindness, generosity, and wit. I will miss him.
